Clinical Officer **Organization:** World Health Organization (WHO) **Job Type:** Full-Time **Location:** Various Duty Stations **Reports To:** Medical Officer / Health Program Coordinator Job Summary The Clinical Officer provides comprehensive clinical care and supports the implementation of public health programs aimed at improving health outcomes in communities. The role involves diagnosing and treating patients, participating in disease prevention and health promotion activities, supporting outbreak response, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to strengthen healthcare delivery in line with WHO standards and national guidelines. Key Responsibilities * Provide quality clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for patients. * Manage common illnesses and medical emergencies according to established protocols and guidelines. * Participate in disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, and emergency response activities. * Support immunization, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other public health programs. * Maintain accurate medical records and ensure timely reporting of health data. * Educate patients and communities on disease prevention and health promotion. * Collaborate with healthcare professionals, government agencies, and partners to improve healthcare services. * Ensure compliance with WHO policies, ethical standards, and infection prevention and control measures. * Participate in training, mentoring, and capacity-building initiatives for healthcare workers. * Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and quality improvement activities. Qualifications and Experience Education * Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine or a related health field from a recognized institution. * Registration and a valid practicing license from the relevant professional regulatory body. ### Experience * Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience. * Experience in primary healthcare, public health programs, humanitarian settings, or emergency response is an advantage. * Previous experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government health institutions is desirable. Skills and Competencies * Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills. * Knowledge of public health principles and disease surveillance systems. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments. * Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic health information systems. * Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively during health emergencies. Languages * Excellent command of English is required. * Knowledge of additional UN languages is an added advantage.
