The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) is a government aid agency established in 1991 by the Republic of Korea. KOICA Uganda was founded in 2010 as the official organization for Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Uganda. Its purpose is to enhance the effectiveness of the Republic of Korea’s grant aid programs in Uganda by implementing projects in rural development, education, health, and other areas to foster friendly and cooperative relationships, mutual exchanges, and support economic and social growth between the two governments. With Korea’s assistance to Uganda amounting to more than 18 million USD, Uganda is considered a key partner country in Africa.
